Where to stay?
We elected to stay at the J W Marriott which was some five to six kilometres from the old city but it was an easy and low cost taxi ride into the town .The hotel advised the preferred taxi service and we found that this taxi was usually available at a large hotel downtown so there were no issues.
The hotel was located at No 8 Do Duc Duc Road, Me Tri Ward, South Tu Liem District adjacent to a lake and a government facility that did not like foreigners approaching.
What to do in Hanoi?
We found the best way to see Hanoi was to identify the major sites and then walk the streets which is relatively easy and practical.allow at least two days to cover everything as just walking the old town takes time and there is a great deal to see.
