Tom Price-Gateway To Karijini National Park

IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE BUT FANTASTIC SCENERY

Tom Price 
is a small township in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and is the highest town in the State at 747 meters. Apart from tourism the reason for Tom Price, named after Thomas Price , the VP of US based steel company Kaiser Steel is located five kilometres from Mount Tom Price, a major iron ore resource operated by Rio Tinto. The town has a population of 2,700 and is quite affluent and young reflecting the age of the miners in the community. it is the closest town to the Karijini National Park with its spectacular gorges and scenery. The closest airport in at Parabadoo which is also operated by Rio Tinto and has regular services from Perth.

 It provides basic motel style accommodation as well as a restaurant and bar.

The main reason to visit unless you are a miner is to see the Karijini National Park
