Walking The Gateway Loop-McDowell Mountain Reserve

MCDOWELL MOUNTAINS RESERVE
SCOTTSDALE ARIZONA

A great place to stay when visiting McDowell Mountains.

To get to the Gateway Loop Trail go east on Bell until the Thompson Peak Parkway and turn left  and you will find the entrance about a third of a mile on your right. There is ample parking and good toilet facilities. Follow the Saguaro Trail and then the Gateway Loop Trail either right or left and continue up to the Gateway Saddle  at 2,375 feet. The trail is well signed. Maps are also available at the visitor center. The trail is about 6.3 KM  and  is classified as moderately difficult but if you take your time it is OK and worth it.
