Qantas has flights from Perth and there is the Prospector train that takes about 7 hours or you can drive the 595 km in about six hours.
We drove and enjoyed the country and towns along the way and went south to the coast at Esperence and then back to perth via Albany.We stayed at:
History
In 1893 Paddy Hannan, Tom Flanagan and Dan Shea were traveling to Youle when a horse threw a shoe and they stopped and found gold where Mt Carlottle Gold Mine now stands just north of the town.In 1893 Hannan filed a claim and it was on and they came in droves looking for gold.

The old pubs and architecture
The Super Pit, operates just south of the town and is worthy of a look. Until 2016 it was the largest opne cut mine in Australia
