You can drive from Kununurra on Highway 1 south and it is 91 km and tales a little over ab=n hour. The road is good.An alternative is take a Lake Argyl Cruise which includes a trip up the Oord River by boat and a boat cruise on the lake plus lunch. You get great views of the river and the Freshwater Crocodiles along the way.
A good place to stay is
Kununurra.

Some Details
Lake Argyle is the largest lake in Western Australia (by volume) and the second largest in Australia (the largest being Lake Eyre).The dam wall is earth compacted and oly 335 meters wide and 98 meters high.The area is 1000 square kiometers.
When at the lake , take a swim and also try the infirnity pool at the camp ground.
