HISTORY

Salta was foundered y the Spaniards in 1582 under the leadership of Hernando De Lerma. The Spanish influnece is clear from the old buildings and churches.After the civil war of 1810-1818, Salta was freed from the Spanish with the leadership of Martin Miguel De Guemes, who has some statues around town.

FOOD & DRINK

Try the wines of the Lerma Valley and specifically TORRONTES, a dry white. The food was good quality and varied in Salta with strong a strong presence ofMiddle Eastern restaurants as well as local cuisine.
