THE SUPERSTITIONS-LOST DUTCHMAN STATE PARK

LOST DUTCHMAN STATE PARK
ARIZONA
MAGICAL SUPERSTITION MOUNTAINS

The Lost Dutchman State Park is 40 miles east of Phoenix off US 60 at Apache Junction. From Apache Junction take N Apache Trail (88) to the 320 acre park that has fantastic walks and views,
Stay in Scotstdale and get on 60 from the 101 Loop. A good option is:

The State Park was named after the Lost Dutchman Mine which has never been found. A German (not Dutch) Jacob Waltz (1810-1891) apparently found the mine  and never told anyone where it was.For many years people have searched for the mine without a result although some say they know where it might be. Others point  to different locations such as Wickenberg 180 miles north west where a German was found dead with gold in his saddle bags. Whatever the location it is a great place to walk and hike with good vies and scenery.
