Jaipur-The Pink City
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and was founderd by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who moved from Amber to Japiu in 1727. It is known as the "Pink City" because its red and pink palaces and buildings.You should allow two days in Jaipur and Amber and we stayed at:

HAWA MAHAL
The Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds was built by the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II on the edge of Jaipur in 1799. Its main featyre is the 953 small windows and the pink and red sandstone used in contruction.
AROUND THE TOWN
AMBER FORT
To get up to the fort you need to take a most uncomfortable and somewhat unpleasant ride on an elephant with an unpleasant driver who demands more for the ride even though have already paid. The Amber Fort is intersting, some 11 KM fro Jaipur and built in the 16th century. Forget the elephants.
