This planatation of Californian Redwoods are not well known and are quite an amazing sit amid typical Australian bush. They were planted back in 1930 after the water authjority , The Board of Works cleared the land of Australian bush ten years earlier and wanted to understanhd the impact on the water catchment area at Cement Creek by planting Californian Redwoords , Bishop Pine and Douglas Fir.Additional plantings of Western Red Cedar and Californian Redwood were planted between 1960 and 1963. There are over 1,470 trees all neatly aligned in rows and they range between 20 meters and 55 meters high. Closer to the Yarra River you will find various pines mixed in with Australian natives and Tree ferns providing a pretty walking track along-side the fast flowing Yarra.
