STINGRAYS OF HAMELIN BAY
The coastline between Cape Leeuwin and Naturaliste is beautiful but there is a unique event in Hamelin Bay and it involves a number of stingrays that frequent the shallows of the beach near the old jetty.
Two types of stingray frequent the shallows. The smooth stingray that is grey or black and can grow to 4.3 m in length and also the eagle ray which is small, diamond shaped and can be brown, green or yellow with white spots. As these animals are wild they can be dangerous if they feel threatened.
