Montserrat-A Short Trip From Barcelona

Montserrat and the Benedictine Abbey, Santa Maria Montserrat is about an hour north west of Barcelona by train and worth a side trip if in Barcelona.

To get to Montserrat was relatively easy.  From Barcelona's Place d' Espanya Station (use the Metro) go to the deciated ticket office (clearly marked) and catch the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunga where you will have access to the Rack Railway to the Abbey. The Funicular de Saint Joan will take you to the top of the mountain.The views and walks are great.
