Apart from the fascinating port facilities and operations of Rio Tinto and Woodside there are many places to explore outside of the towns of Damper and Karratha in the fascinating Pillbara region. Go in winter when the weather is perfect and hire a 4WD so that you can explore the parks  and even head to Mt Tom Price where the iron ore is mined.The scenery is beautiful and there is much here for tourists. make sure you see the Red dog memorial in Dampier.
