COSSACK GHOST TOWN

COSSACK
GHOST TOWN IN NORTH WEST WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Use Karratha as your base and Cossack is an interesting side trip. Cossack is 1,480 KM north of Perth at the outlet of the Harding River. It is 15 KM from Roebourne and about 50 KM from Karratha. Cossack is the birthplace of pearling in WA and operated many pearling luggers from the 1860's. There were a  large number of Asians , Malaysians, Japanese employed in the industry. Today it is a ghost town with a number of National Trust buildings. You can get a good view of the town from Nanny Goat Hill and the Tien Tsin lookout,
