HA LONG BAY
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY BUT A LONG DAY
The trip from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay is 165 kilometres but allow four hours each way and to that you have to add the mandatory stops at restaurants and tourist shops. Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site and consists of some 2,000 islands of various sizes, mostly limestone in an area of some 1,500 square kilometres and is quite spectacular. Thee are some interesting caves to explore although quite tacky with coloured lights.
