Tom Price-Outback Town in WA

TOM PRICE
MIDDLE OF NOWHERE BUT BEAUTIFUL
Gateway to Karinji National Park
There are two places to stay, one in Karijini National Park and one in the town of Tom Price. Both a very different and worthwhile trying

Tom Price Township From A Small Hill Nearby

Tom Price is a mining town and the iron ore mine is a few kilometers out of town and run by Rio Tinto. Tom Price is a neat town and quite well off with a population just under 3,000.The town was named after Thomas Moore Price , a VP with Kaiser Steel of the US who was instrumental in developing the iron ore site. The closest airport is Paraburdoo and it is a town closest to Karijini National park. Tom Price is located on the edge of the Hammersley Range in the Pilbara of WA and at 747 meters it is the highest town in WA.
The area around Tom Price provides spectacular scenery and even though the town itself does not have a lot going for it you can spend a few days exploring the gorges and areas of Karijini National Park.
