Lecce - Beautiful Baroque City

LECCE
BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE ARCHITECTURE
It is called the Venice of the South and it really is a beautiful and interesting city with numerous churches, small streets and ancient Greek and Roman ruins.Lecce has more than 40 churches and many Palazzi all built in the 17th and 18th century. You will find the buildings decorated in Baroque style, some quite lavish and over the top.
A great place to stay in Leece is
The Entrance to Corte Dell' Idume
It is a short walk from the cathedral and the host was most charming and accommodating and the place was clean and had everything. including cakes baked for us daily.

There is a regular train service from Brindisi  (40KM) and Bari  and to Rome.    Airports and Bus services operate as well. Lecce is also a great spot to get to places like Gallipoli and Ostuni.
