GALLIPOLI
PUGLIA, ITALY
The Old medieval town of Gallipoli is essentially and island connected to the mainland and sits out in the Ionian Sea. It has a modern town as well and a train station connected to Lecce which is about 39 KM away. The trains are local and operate a little chaotically and you can never be sure when the train or if it will depart and it is slow so allow at an hour plus for the 39 KM journey. Gallipoli is a good place to visit from Lecce and it has some excellent sea siderestaurants and interesting walks through the old town.
