Not that great a beach for one that means 'Stinking Water'
Ipanema Beach is located adjacent to Leblon Beach and Copacaban Beach in Rio and according to the Tupi language means stinking or bad water. It has become something of a legend because of songs like "The Girl from Ipanema" written in 1962 and you do see some interesting people strolling the beach.
