The Namdaemun Gate
Located in Jung-gu between the Seoul Station and Seoul Plaza is the Great South Gate or as it is officially know, SUNGNYMUN is one of eight gates around the old walled city of Seoul. Built in the 14th century and sits in an area of modern Seoul.Adjacent is the largest market in Seoul,the NAMDAEMUN MARKET.The market dates back to 1414 and from 1922 to 1945 was managed by the Japanese occupation forces. It returned to merchant ownership shortly after.
