PELOURINHO-OLD TOWN SALVADOR BRAZIL

PELOURINHO
OLD PART OF SALVADOR BRAZIL
Salavador is the capital of the north easter state of Bahia in Brazil and known for its Portyguese Colonial architecture , Afro-Brazil culture , its old streets and colorful homes. The old part of Salavador known as Pelourinho is divided from the e lower townby a 85 meter escarpment. Although we traveled down to the market at the lower level, the advice was not to stray beyond the well-defined tourist area of the upper old town. It was a very colorful place with interesting people and food. A good place to stay right in nthe heart of the old town was:-

The Portuguese founder Salvador in 1549 and for many years it was the capital of Brazil. The is much to see and a number of quirky restaurants and definitely night life when the cobbled streets come to life.
