ROUTE 66-A NOSTALGIC LOOK BACK AT WILL RODGERS HIGHWAY

US ROUTE 66
SANTA MONICA TO CHICAGO

Santa Monica CA, Barstow CA, Flagstaff AZ, Gallup NM ,Amararillo TX, Tulsa OK. St Louis Mo, Chicago Il

Having travelled its length, some places more than once it is interesting to look back at this iconic road that was foundered on November 11, 1926 and ceased formmaly part of the US road system in 1985. Apart from US 66 it was called the Will Rodger Highway and the Mother Road  and createed tunes like "You get your kicks on Route 66"and the TV Series ''Route 66.''
I can recall the old crossing in St Louis across the Chain of Rocks Bridge (no longer carries traffic but did back in 1980 when I lived in St Louis) I have travelled the road as it winds through Flagstaff Arizona and many of the old tacky motels along the road still remain. At the North exxit of the Petririfed Forest at the Painted Desert over-look there is an old rsusted car  on the Olf Route 88 section of the road.Go to Santa Monica Pier for the start of the road.
A little Nostalgia In Difficult Times

This has the lights of the 1930's
