 The Worlds Biggest Bronze Buddha 

The Great Buddha Hall is located in Todai-Ji or the Eastern Great Hall, a Buudhist Temple in Nara opened in 752. It contains the largest bronze statue of Buddha Vairocana anywhere and it is impresive. It weighs 500 tons, is 14.98 Meters high, and is 28 meters from shoulder to shoulder. The eyes  are 1.02 meters wide and the ears 2.54 meters.It is seaid that within the knee of the Buddha are swords, jewels and other valuables..If staying in Nara try the following as it is raight at the railway station.


Watch out for the many (too many) Sika Deer that roam the streets and parks in Nara.
