 SILO ART

TUNGAMAH TO GOORAMBAT

VICTORIA AUSTRALIA

Perhaps a little off the beaten track (but not that far from the Hume Highway) you will find four interesting examples of silo art between Tungamah and Goorambat in North East Victoria that are well worth the detour.

Tungamah was the first  silo to be painted on north east Victoria and the first stages were completed in 2018 by artist , Sobrane Simcock. The art comprises dancing brolgas and on the smaller of the two silos , kookaburra, galah and cockatoo

ST. JAMES

The St James silos were painted by artist Tim Bowtell and depict the story of Sir George Coles who started Coles supermarkets.  George Coles purchased a store in St James in 1882 and this is where it all began.

DEVENISH

The Devenish art works  were painted by Cam Scale who completed stage 1 in 2018 and it shows a ww1 nurse and a modern medic. Stage 2 was completed a year later and honours the Light Horse infantry who served in the Boer War and WW1 .Some 50 locals served in the first world war.
