If you are travelling on Interstate 17, Jerome is a short diversion and worth a visit.Take exit 293 and head for Cottonwood and then follow the signs up the hill to Jerome. Jerome sits at the top of Cleopatra Hill at 5,200 feet and is now somewhat of a Ghost Town that was foundered in 1876 and was once the fourth largest town in the Arizona Territory. It also had the reputation of being the wickedest town in the west. It remains today as a quirky tourist town that is worth a visit and a step back in time. It is also easily accessible from Sedona and Prescott.
