The Scottsdale section of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve is one of the great things to do in Scottsdale.Ot is located on the east side of Thompsons Peak Road between Legacy and Bell Road and just a short distance from the 101 Loop and Scottsdale Road.

The Gateway area is probably the easiest to access with a number of good trails, ample parking and good toilet facilities and usually maps.The Horseshoe Loop is an easy walk of 1. 7 miles at an elevation of 100 feet. The Gateway Loop is more strenuous at 4.5 miles and an elevation of 650 feet. You get some great views back to Phoenix and Scottsdale from this trail. The park covers over 30,000 acres and five major trail heads and over 180 miles of walking trails,
