THE CITY WALL OF XI'AN
WALLS OF THE MING AND QING DYNASTIES

The wall around Xi'an is thicker than it is high and stretches some 14 KM. It was built in the 14th century under the rule of the Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang (Ming Dynasty) as a fortification of the city. Along the top of the wall is a walkway which takes about 4 hours to walk. The wall is 12 meters in height and a little wider in width.

To get to the old town go to the other side of the Big goosa Pagoda to Dayentabei Station (Line 3) and work your way to Zhonflou on Line 1. This will get you to the Bell Tower. Make sure you walk Muslim Street, see the Xi'an Mosque, Bell Tower, Xi'an Drum Tower and just take in the sights in the Muslim quarter.
