A good place to stay near White Sands is:-
The White Sands National Monument is one of the great wonders of the world with 275 square miles of white sand dunes in the Tularosa Basin of New Mexico.It is some 4,000 feet high. and surrounded by Military Bases ( Hollman Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range.) There are great walks across the sand dunes and this is a must see place if in New Mexico.
Note:-There are a number of Border Patrol Check Points on 70 from Las Cruses and 54 from El Paso so be sure to carry tour passport.
