HISTORY
There is plenty of history in George Town which is the capital of Penang and the second largest city in Malaysia.The core of the city has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008. George Town  was established by Francis Light of the British East India Company in 1786 and it was the first British colony in South East Asia and became a colony in 1867.Japan took over in the second world war and the British took it back in 1945. The Edison Hotel was once the Japanese HQ during the war.George Town has  an assortment of Colonial and Asia architecture and is a multicultural place catering for a wide range of people and religions who appear to live in harmony. It is a great place for foodies who like to try authentic local cuisine.It is also famous for its street art that is scattered across the city.
