KHIVA -OLD WALLED CITY IN UZBEKISTAN

KHIVA
UZBEKISTAN

Khiva is in the Eastern part of Uzbekistan and has 90,000 people claimed to be of Iranian origin. The city dates back 1,500 years and comprises two cities, the outer city called  Dichan Kala and the inner city or Itchan Kala protected by 10 meter walls with 11 gates. It was listed as a World Heritage site in early in the 1980's and has some 50 historical monuments mostly built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Hotels are limited and fairly basic. We stayed at

QO'SHA DARVOZA
It was 500 meters from the walled city and convenient
