LA MADDALENA ARCHIPELIGO
SARDINIA
This was the second visit to Sardinia and we flew into Olbia from Rome and drove north to Cannigione. The scenery is special and the waters around the island of the Maddalena Archipeligo are crystal clear and blue.Caprera one the three major islands in the group to the north of Sardina is where Giuseppe Garibaldi, the italian Patriot who helpd unify Italy in 1861 spent the remaining years of his life. It is a sparsly populated island and has a museum and a memorial to his life.Go for the history but also for the scenery.
