Petra is a historic and archaeological city in southern Jordan and remained unknown to the West until it was rediscovered in 1812 by Johann Burckhardt. Access is via a 1.2 km gorge called the Siq. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985 and voted one of the Seven Wonders of the World (Al Khazneth) in 2007.

We chose to hire a car abnd drive from Amman Airport to the Dead Sea and then down to Wadi Musa which was an affordable and conveneient way to get there.
