'THE SWINGING OLD LADY'

The Queen Emma Bridge or as it is often referred to as 'The Swinging Old Lady is a pontoon bridge that connects the Punda from the Otrobanda districts of Willemstad. The bridge was built in 1888 and renovated in 1939 and is built on pontoons and is hinged  and it swings parallel to the shore to let ships and other vessels in and out. The bridge is now a walkway across At Anna Bay.

The Renaissance Resort & Spa  

is on the Otrobanda side and has great views of the ocean and a short walk to the bridge.l

Curacao is a Dutch Caribbean Island and one of the more interesting Caribbean islands with some great beaches and very colourful capital of Willemstad. A good place to stay is the Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino just across the Queen Emma floating bridge from the old town in a new development on the water.There are regular flights from Miami and the island is far more colourful that most other islands

Curacao-Colourfull Part Of Caribbean

Curacao is a little off the beaten track and not the most popular Caribbean Island but if you want something a little different with a great deal of colour then Curacao and Willemstad is it. It is part of the Lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean and only 65 kilometres from Venezuela.The island is serviced by American Airlines out of Miami.

There are a number of good hotels in Willemstad  or nearby and we selected the Marriott Resort that is no longer there as a Marriott.

Curacao and Willemstad provide good beaches, good hotels in a colourful town with some character. Climate is typical Caribbean and th whole place is fairly laid back and quite safe.
