How To Get There

There is a regular train and bus services from Ljubljana to  Postojna Caves and the castle is 9 km from the cave. We elected to take a small bus tour arrnaged at the hotel in Ljubljana as this took us to the cave and the castle at about the same cost. It is some 46 km south of Ljubljana.

A Little History

The original castle dated back to 1274 and was the seat of Knight Erasmus Leug, who was a robber baron and  found reason to fight most people around.He met a sad end and  the original castle was destroyed and then rebuilt in Renaissance style in 1570 and has remained unchanged since.

How To Get There

There are regular bus services from Ljubljana to Bled  and tickets can be purchased         ( Euro12) at the bus Station. There is good accomodation in Bled. There is also a train service.

OLD BLED HOUSE

Bled is a pretty place and you can walk around the glacial lake, walk up to Bled Castle  (steep climb) that dates back to the 11th century and view the Asumption of Mary Pilgrimage Cgurch  on the small island in the lake. When visisted there was a medieval festival underway with locals in costume at Bled Castle.

Getting There

'There is a bus service from Trieste in Italy to Ljubljana with some five  services a day departing from the Trieste Central Bus station (very run down)  and arriving at the Ljubljana Central Bus station . It takes about 1.5 hours and costs about Euro 8.

It is small and two nights are adequate but there is plenty see, good cafes and museums

BEAUTIFUL LAKE TOWN IN SLOVENIA

Bled is located in the North west of Slovenia only 35 kilometres from Ljubljana Airport and some 75 kilometres from ljubljana itself and it is a good day trip by bus. There are some good hotels in Bled on the lake and we suggest.
